The Moon Also Rises is the second collaborative album from Johnny Flynn and Robert Macfarlane, following their acclaimed 2021 release Lost In The Cedar Wood. This deeply thematic work explores timeless dualities—death and renewal, darkness and light—structured as a journey from burial to awakening. The first five tracks dwell in shadows, memory, and introspection, while the final four embrace light, love, and rebirth. At the album's core lies the pivotal track "The Sun Also Rises," a song that bridges both worlds. Blending poetry, myth, nature, and landscape, the album creates rich, interwoven songlines that traverse time and place, echoing the eternal cycle of endings and beginnings.
