The Magic Whip is the first Blur album since 2003's Think Tank, marking a significant reunion for the band. It is the first with guitarist Graham Coxon since 1999's 13, following his departure during the Think Tank sessions, and the first produced by Stephen Street since 1997's Blur. The album captures a moody, introspective tone, reflecting themes of alienation and wonder akin to Damon Albarn's solo work.
