Het jaar is 2019. Een mysterieuze plaag heeft de aarde overspoeld en de meerderheid van de wereldbevolking in vampiers veranderd. Het is allemaal aan Edward Dalton (Ethan Hawke), een vampieronderzoeker die weigert zich te voeden met menselijk bloed, om een bloedvervanger te perfectioneren die vampiers zou kunnen onderhouden en de weinige overgebleven mensen zou sparen. Maar de tijd en de hoop raken op - totdat Ed Audrey ontmoet, een menselijke overlevende die hem naar een verrassende medische doorbraak leidt. Quality figures
