The Making of Snowdrop

Following the recording of their previous album, OATH, with Steve Albini in 2023, MONO faced uncertainty after his tragic death the following year. Brad Wood (known for work with Touché Amoré, The Smashing Pumpkins) stepped in to record the new material at Albini’s Electrical Audio studios in September 2025, utilizing his familiarity with MONO’s process and his friendship with Albini. The album features eight massive compositions, augmented by a 10-piece orchestra and an 8-piece choir, conducted by Chad McCullough. Mixed by Wood in Los Angeles, Snowdrop is described as both intimate and enveloping, reflecting a poignant appreciation for a life well spent with a dear friend.
