In den Westlanden von Eriador, zwischen den Nebelbergen und den Lune-Bergen, fanden die Hobbits sowohl Menschen als auch Elfen. Tatsächlich lebte dort immer noch ein Überrest der Dunedain, der Könige der Menschen, die über das Meer aus Westernesse kamen, aber sie schrumpften schnell und die Länder ihres Nordreichs verfielen weit und breit.
Eriador, das einsame Land, das in „Der Herr der Ringe“ beschrieben wird, wird in „Ruins of the Lost Realm“ lebendig wie nie zuvor – einer Ergänzung zu „Der Eine Ring“, dem offiziellen Tabletop-Rollenspiel, das auf den Werken von JRR Tolkien basiert. Eine Region, die oft als verlassen beschrieben wird, wird zum Schmelztiegel für Abenteuer und bietet viele Stunden Spielspaß.
Kapitel 1: Nebel über Eriador bietet eine Beschreibung der Regionen, die einst Teil des Königreichs Arnor waren, mit Schwerpunkt auf der Stadt Tharbad.
Kapitel 2: Ein aufziehender Sturm bietet dem Loremaster eine Reihe erzählerischer Elemente, die darauf abzielen, eine mögliche Zukunft für das Land Eriador als Ganzes aufzubauen, einschließlich der Beschreibung vieler drohender Bedrohungen, Loremaster-Charakteren und ihrer Pläne.
Kapitel 3: Wahrzeichen fügt zwölf interessante Orte im Stil der im Hauptband vorgestellten hinzu. Diese Orte stellen sowohl „historische“ Orte dar, die in „Der Herr der Ringe“ oder „Der Hobbit“ erwähnt werden, als auch andere, die speziell für das Spiel erstellt wurden.
