Hayden Pedigo ist ein Akustikgitarrist und Soundscape-Komponist aus Amarillo, Texas. Am bekanntesten ist er vielleicht für seine überzeugende Bewerbung um den Stadtrat von Amarillo im zarten Alter von 25 Jahren, nachdem sein von Harmony Korine inspiriertes Parodie-Kampagnenvideo viral ging. Haydens Musik ist ebenso bezaubernd, da sie die primitiven amerikanischen Gitarrenspielstile von John Fahey mit einer Vorliebe für experimentelle Klanggestaltung und -manipulation verbindet. Mit Anfang 20 hatte Hayden bereits mit Größen wie Charles Hayward von This Heat, Fred Frith, Werner Diermaier von Faust und der Outlaw-Country-Legende Terry Allen zusammengearbeitet. Allerdings ist es wichtig, bei Hayden Pedigo mit dem Unerwarteten zu rechnen. Mit einem Albumcover, das Black-Metal-Konnotationen darstellt, und einem geschworenen Hasser des Begriffs „Cosmic Country“ erstreckt sich Haydens satirischer Sinn für Humor von den verschiedenen Charakteren, die er auf seiner Instagram-Seite porträtiert, bis in jede Faser seines Wesens. „Kid Candidate“, ein 67-minütiger Dokumentarfilm über Haydens Bewerbung um den Stadtrat von Amarillo (Regie: Jasmine Stodel), wird am 2. Juli 2021 von der Produktionsfirma und dem Verleih Gunpowder & Sky digital veröffentlicht. Seine weltweite Filmfestival-Premiere feierte er beim SXSW 2021 und wird im September 2021 auf Blu-ray veröffentlicht. Musik von Letting Go ist auch in Kid Candidate enthalten.
