Affinity war eine der brillantesten britischen Jazz-Rock-Gruppen, die in den frühen 1970er Jahren entstanden, und wurde von ehemaligen Studenten der Sussex University gegründet. Sie rekrutierten die Sängerin Linda Hoyle und wurden vom berühmten Jazzclubbesitzer Ronnie Scott geleitet, der von ihrem erfrischenden Ansatz beeindruckt war. Ein späteres Mitglied der Band war der bekannte Bassist Mo Foster.
„Affinity“ war ihr einziges Album, das erstmals 1970 von Vertigo veröffentlicht wurde. Die Mischung aus Rock und Fusion-Jazz der Gruppe behält ihren erfrischenden Reiz und Linda Hoyle ist eine unverwechselbare Sängerin, deren Arbeit mittlerweile größere Anerkennung und Respekt findet.
