Der Mann, der es nie gab, wird dann auf See zurückgelassen, damit die Deutschen ihn finden können. Der Geheimdienst der Nazis glaubt jedoch, dass der Fund einfach zu schön ist, um wahr zu sein, und im Herzen des vom Krieg zerrissenen London beginnt ein verzweifeltes Katz-und-Maus-Spiel ... Regie führt der dreifach Oscar-nominierte Ronald Neame, basierend auf dem Besten: „The Man Who Never Was“, ein Verkaufsbuch von Ewen Montagu und mit einer hervorragenden Nebenbesetzung, zu der Stephen Boyd, Michael Hordern, Andre Morrell und Cyril Cusack gehören, gewann 1957 den BAFTA für das beste Drehbuch und wurde für den besten Film nominiert. Nach digitaler Restaurierung und Remastered ist es nun zum allerersten Mal auf britischer DVD erhältlich.
