Description
June McDoom’s debut full-length album, Follow the Light, is for listeners drawn to intimate folk and dub-influenced rhythms. Made with her longtime partner Evan Wright, it brings voice and guitar together with a restrained, layered sound.
The album’s folk harmonies meet dub rhythms, with echoes of Dionne Warwick, Minnie Riperton, Pentangle and the washed guitars of Cocteau Twins. Its sound moves through a dreamlike space between the familiar and the new.
Lead single “Without You” showcases the album’s approach, while “Memory” is guided by McDoom’s grandmother Aggie. At its heart, the record reflects on family and the selves that shape us across generations.
