Eugene Ysäe, a violin virtuoso admired by all his contemporaries, was an inheritor of the Belgian school of violin, whose influence dates back to the early 19th century. While renowned as a performer, Ysäe's contributions as a composer are less widely known. This boxed set explores his legacy as a composer, presenting his works for solo violin and orchestra, including two movements of violin concertos available on record for the first time, alongside chamber music. Also featured are significant works dedicated to or commissioned by Ysäe, many of which he premiered.
