Absolute Grey - Live At CBGB's 1985

Experience the raw energy of Absolute Grey with this collection of 10 previously unreleased live recordings from the 1980s. Captured at CBGB's in 1985, this CD offers a glimpse into the indie rock scene of the era, featuring the band that shared stages with notable acts like Rain Parade, Salem 66, Dream Syndicate, Alex Chilton, Long Ryders, and Three O’Clock.

Absolute Grey's sound is described as intelligent, tuneful folk-rock with intriguing melodies and a subtle psychedelic undertow. Comparisons have been drawn to early R.E.M. with female vocals, blending elements of Fairport Convention and Jefferson Airplane with Echo & the Bunnymen. The band's unique approach, characterized by a garage-pop sensibility and Beth Brown's emotionally charged vocals, created a distinctive 'new wave folk rock' sound that critics have lauded for its originality and raw power.

This release includes liner notes by Karen Schoemer, Jim DeRogatis, and Luke Wood, offering deeper insight into the band's history and music.
