Corruption [Blu-ray]

Director Mauro Bolognini crafts a haunting tale of temptation and critique in Corruption. Following his studies, the innocent Stefano (Jacques Perrin) decides to become a priest, much to the disapproval of his father, Leonardo (Alain Cuny), a rich publishing magnate who wants his son to inherit his empire. Leonardo invites Stefano on a yacht trip with his mistress (Rosanna Schiaffino), setting the stage for sinister undertones as pleasure under the burning sun tests the young man's spiritual ambitions. Bolognini delivers an unsparing critique of Italy’s nascent consumerist society with ice-cold New Wave stylings and sharp dialogue.
