Description
Pyramid is a classic album by the Modern Jazz Quartet, for listeners exploring the quartet’s blend of jazz and classical music. This limited edition is pressed on 180g blue vinyl and includes two bonus tracks.
Formed from the rhythm section of the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band, the Modern Jazz Quartet became one of jazz’s most enduring ensembles. On Pyramid, pianist John Lewis contributes three compositions, including “Django”, alongside pieces by Ellington, Ray Brown and Jim Hall.
The album also features the quartet’s take on “How High The Moon”. Bonus tracks are the original 1952 version of “Vendome” and the original 1954 version of “Django”; the release includes specially prepared liner notes by Brian Morton and Jazz Magazine.
