Description

Libertine is the final studio album by Gene, released in 2001. This reissue is a double LP pressed on 180-gram black vinyl, featuring the singles “Is It Over?” and “O Lover”.

Gene’s sound draws inspiration from the Smiths, the Jam and the Faces, with Martin Rossiter’s literate vocals complemented by Steve Mason’s fluid guitar lines and the band’s rhythm section.

The album closes Gene’s studio-album run, which spanned four albums between 1995 and 2001. The band were named Best New Act at the inaugural NME Awards in 1995 and went on to score 10 UK Top 40 hits.
