La terra trema [Blu-ray]

Experience a masterpiece of Italian neorealism with Luchino Visconti's La terra trema. Set in the Sicilian fishing village of Aci Trezza, this powerful film follows the Valastro family as they strive for a better life amidst the struggles of post-World War II rural existence. Eldest son Ntoni's attempt to fish independently, backed by a bank loan, initially brings hope but is ultimately challenged by a devastating shipwreck, forcing the family to confront their fate.

Originally conceived as Communist Party propaganda, Visconti masterfully employed the real villagers of Aci Trezza as his cast, crafting a compelling docu-fictional melodrama. Nominated for the Golden Lion at the 1948 Venice Film Festival, La terra trema is celebrated as one of the finest examples of its genre.
