Vertigo (1958) - DVD Special Edition [DVD]

Dreamlike and nightmarishly surreal, Vertigo is Alfred Hitchcock's most personal film, confronting the psychological complexities that fascinated the director. The story follows Scotty, a tortured acrophobic detective played by James Stewart, who becomes obsessed with a mysterious woman seemingly possessed by the ghost of someone long dead. Kim Novak delivers a mesmerizing performance as the enigmatic blonde whose icy exterior masks a turbulent emotional core. Bernard Herrmann's haunting score elevates the film into a Wagnerian tragedy, while Hitchcock's meticulous attention to detail—from the iconic grey dress designed by Edith Head to the revolutionary "Vertigo effect"—cements this as a landmark of cinema history.
