Description

Arclight is an album by guitarist Julian Lage, featuring his first recorded performances on electric guitar and in a trio. Scott Colley plays double bass and Kenny Wollesen plays drums and percussion.

The album pairs Lage’s original compositions with interpretations of early- to mid-20th-century music from before bebop, including Spike Hughes’ “Nocturne” and W.C. Handy’s “Harlem Blues”.

Brisk, improvisational playing runs through the album, with “Persian Rug” and “Activate” among its short, lively tracks.
