Volume 3 of the Jazz Sessions features the original Acid Jazz star James Taylor, celebrating the 40th Anniversary of his solo career. This release marks his first in a Trio format, a fitting tribute to his early work. 'The Truth' showcases James collaborating with Theo Carasco on drums and Orlando Flemming on upright bass, channeling the sounds of early '70s jazz legends like Les McCann, Hampton Hawes, and Lonnie Liston Smith. The trio's sound is rich with analogue electric keyboards, including the Fender Rhodes, James's primary instrument, alongside the Solina string synthesizer and Hammond Organ. Aref Durvesh adds his Tablas, and gospel-trained singer Liz Jai contributes vocals on three tracks. The album includes interpretations of Vince Guaraldi's 'Lucy & Linus' and 'Thus Sprach Zarathustra,' alongside the powerful title track and the cosmic jazz piece 'Aref’s Space.' This album is a significant continuation of James Taylor's catalogue on Acid Jazz, returning to the label where his career began.
