Roky Erickson And The Aliens - The Evil One [Deluxe CD]

The Evil One is a deluxe 15-track CD by Roky Erickson And The Aliens, for listeners drawn to hard-edged psychedelic rock with a horror-inspired edge. It brings together recordings from the band’s 1978 and 1979 sessions.

After leaving the 13th Floor Elevators’ psychedelic garage blues behind, Erickson and The Aliens forged a more ferocious sound with jagged guitars, strange melodies and propulsive rhythms. Produced by Creedence Clearwater Revival bassist Stu Cook, the album became a landmark of cult rock whose influence reached punk, alternative and psychedelic music.

Erickson’s surreal lyrics conjure zombies, demons, vampires and atomic monsters, while his unmistakable voice drives songs including ‘Two Headed Dog’, ‘I Walked With A Zombie’ and ‘It’s A Cold Night For Alligators’.
