Jess By The Lake - HUMAN [CD]

Experience the raw, analog sound of Jess By The Lake's highly anticipated sophomore album, HUMAN. This fully analog release is a powerful statement against disposable modern music, celebrating the energy and authenticity of live band performance.

Artist's Vision:

Jasmin Lempinen, formerly of Jess And The Ancient Ones, channels her passion into this solo project, describing HUMAN as "an analog counterattack and a celebration of live band music." The album is a meticulously crafted work of art, designed to resonate with listeners through its dedication to performance and sound quality.

Recording Process:

The album's journey began in 2019 with the initial songwriting. Recorded live on magnetic tape in the summer of 2023 at the legendary Höyrybaari in Lapinlahti, Finland, the sessions were expertly handled by Tommi Saikkonen and guitarist Sampo Leksis, who also mixed the record. The unique acoustics of the old railway company's log warehouse, even capturing the subtle rumble of passing trains, contribute to the album's distinctive atmosphere. The commitment to an entirely analog process, requiring dedicated practice and collaboration, contributed to the album's thoughtful development.

Musical Style:

HUMAN unashamedly pays homage to the rich traditions of rock music, offering a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly authentic. Lempinen emphasizes the importance of analog recording, stating, "my own voice finally sounded familiar and authentic when recorded. Digital sound is always a sample."
