Carla Dal Forno - Confession [audioCD]

Confession is the fourth LP from Carla Dal Forno, an album described as one of quiet upheaval, exploring themes of unexpected closeness, desire rubbing against stability, and how friendship can suddenly become emotionally charged. Recorded over several years in a studio within a partially abandoned hospital in a small country town, the resulting sound is intimate, watchful, and unadorned.

Dal Forno leans into emotional truth on this record, resulting in a voice that is closer, warmer, and less shielded than on earlier work. The music anchors itself with melodic basslines, complemented by guitars and harmonies, creating a sound that feels lighter than its intense subject matter suggests.

• Explores paired states: going out/staying in, wanting/withholding, devotion/distraction.
• Focuses on internal drama: longing, jealousy, fantasy, and self-exposure stemming from a charged friendship.
• Musically characterized by melodic basslines, guitars, and harmonies.
• Recorded in a still, quiet environment that allowed feelings to grow loud.
