This release dives deep into a rich tapestry of Latin jazz and folk genres, including bolero, cumbia, bossa nova, and samba. Lafourcade frames this collection as her personal musical diary, exploring profound themes of heartbreak, loss, and grief, drawing significant inspiration from nature, particularly her home garden in Xalapa, Veracruz.

Production and Collaborators

For this project, Lafourcade enlisted the production expertise of Adan Jodorowsky, a former neighbor. The musical arrangements feature contributions from notable musicians such as guitarist Marc Ribot (known for work with Tom Waits, John Zorn) and bassist Sebastian Steinberg (known for work with Soul Coughing, Eddie Vedder, Fiona Apple).
