Description

The Kinks’ The Journey Part 1 is a collection compiled by the band for listeners exploring their music from 1963 onwards. It brings together hits, album tracks, singles, band favourites and B-sides, with recordings remastered from original master sources.

Released to mark the band’s 60th anniversary, it combines material from the Pye and RCA catalogues and was the first new Kinks best-of for many years, particularly on vinyl. The selections reflect the band’s journey through life together, chosen by Ray Davies, Dave Davies and Mick Avory.

Among the eight Top 20 hits are “Waterloo Sunset”, “You Really Got Me”, “Celluloid Heroes”, “Supersonic Rocket Ship”, “Dead End Street”, “Death Of A Clown” and “All Day And All Of The Night”. The booklets include band photos and personal track-by-track notes from Ray Davies, Dave Davies and Mick Avory.
