Iain Matthews began his career when Ashley Hutchings recruited him into Fairport Convention in 1967. Following brief stints with Matthews Southern Comfort and the folk-rock milestone band Plainsong (formed in 1972 with Andy Roberts), Matthews continued his restless musical journey.
