• Winner of the Nebula Award for best horror novel.
• Shortlisted for the Splatterpunk Award.

Etsy Beaucarne, an academic desperate to publish, finds a chance for tenure when a 1912 journal written by her grandfather, Lutheran pastor Arthur Beaucarne, is discovered during renovations. The journal transcribes the life story shared by a Blackfeet man named Good Stab, detailing an extraordinary life and a slow massacre charting the history of Montana state formation. This cycle of violence leads back to 217 Blackfeet murdered in the snow. The narrative serves as a blood-soaked revenge story set in the American West of 1912, focusing on a vampire haunting the Blackfeet reservation seeking justice.

Readers who enjoy Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V. E. Schwab and Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice will appreciate this dark, historical narrative.
