Description
Hejira is a Joni Mitchell album for listeners drawn to intimate, reflective songwriting and distinctive musicianship. Its arrangements bring Mitchell’s acoustic guitar and piano together with Jaco Pastorius’s fretless bass.
More inward in feel than the expanded instrumental sound of Mitchell’s earlier work, the album pairs her measured singing with intricate bass lines and poetic reflections.
“Amelia” is a standout, turning the mystery of Amelia Earhart into a meditation on feminism and romantic self-discovery.
