Experience a legendary live performance from German experimental rock pioneers CAN with LIVE IN ARLES 1975. This recording, overseen by founding member Irmin Schmidt and released by Mute, captures the unique nature of CAN’s onstage improvisations, offering a fresh look at a band whose creative process never truly finished. Widely regarded as one of their finest performances, this concert took place at the Roman Théâtre Antique in Arles.
The Performance and Lineup
This recording was unearthed from the Spoon Records vaults, having long only existed through the stories of those who attended. The concert featured the core four members: Irmin Schmidt, Michael Karoli, Jaki Liebezeit, and Holger Czukay. The band performed as part of a festival that also included artists such as Nico and Kevin Ayres. To celebrate this first release, the sleeve notes feature first-hand accounts from locals who were present at the show.
Key Features for Collectors
This 2LP vinyl release preserves a vital moment in experimental rock history, showcasing the raw energy and spontaneous creativity that defined CAN.
