Acid Jazz proudly presents the second volume in their Jazz Sessions series, featuring the debut album from the Matt Berry Trio: ‘Everything’s Peachy’. Matt Berry joins forces with band members Phill Scragg and Graham Mann to deliver this unique musical statement, continuing Berry's acclaimed career as a recording artist outside of his well-known screen roles.
The Album Concept‘Everything’s Peachy’ is a 12-part instrumental suite inspired by the American folk hero Richard “Beebo” Russell, known as ‘the Sky King’, who famously stole an aircraft without training. The album title originates from Russell’s response to air traffic control during his ill-fated flight. The composition flows freely, conveying the chaos, nostalgia, regret, and acceptance associated with the event. Musically, the work draws influence from the electronic experiments of Miles Davis and the melancholy tones of Satie, showcasing the ever-moving musical mind of Matt Berry.
Jazz Sessions Series ContextThis release continues the Jazz Sessions series, conceived by Acid Jazz founder Ed Piller as a deliberate return to the label's jazz foundations. This album follows the initial release in the series, 'Soul Drums' by former Style Council drummer Steve White.
Artist BackgroundMatt Berry brings his established reputation as a recording artist—following releases like ‘Heard Noises’ (2025) and the KPM collaboration ‘Simplicity’ (2023)—to this new guise as the leader of a studio-based, mid-century jazz adjacent trio.
Key FeaturesExperience this open, freeform, and flowing composition from Matt Berry’s curious musical world on vinyl.
