Fritz Haarmann, known as the Butcher of Hanover and the Vampire of Hanover, was a German serial killer responsible for the murders of two dozen boys and young men during the turbulent post-WWI years. Inspired by the same case that influenced Fritz Lang's M, this 1973 psychological horror film offers a chilling, unflinching look at a few weeks in the life of a deeply disturbing yet fascinating figure. With a baby-faced, shaven-headed appearance evoking both Peter Lorre's character in M and the eerie presence of Nosferatu, Haarmann uses his role as a police informant to lure victims, whom he later dismembers and sells as meat to local restaurants. This is not an easy film to watch, but it is undeniably powerful and unforgettable.

Splendidly politically incorrect by today’s standards but a bit of fun. Set in Nigeria but I suspect filmed in East a Africa - the fever trees in the wildlife scenes give it away
