Description
Experience Rhiannon Giddens' seventh studio album, Hope Is the Thing with Feathers, captured live to bring the listener directly into the recording space. This folk release was crafted during sessions nestled within North American tours in 2024 and 2025 at The Cypress House in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.
Album Creation and SoundGiddens co-produced this work with longtime collaborator and bandmate Dirk Powell, who also handled the engineering and mixing. Recording live was a crucial decision, preserving the raw energy of the performance, including the audible stomping Giddens incorporates while playing, which can be felt on the opening track. Intentional elements like background noise and musicians talking between takes were left in to enhance the immersive, in-the-room feel.
