Description
Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris unite for the long-gestating collaborative album All The Roadrunning, a collection of duets crafted over seven years through sporadic studio sessions. Co-produced by Knopfler and Chuck Ainlay, the album features Knopfler's signature electric, acoustic, and slide guitar work alongside Richard Bennett. The backing ensemble includes Jim Cox and Guy Fletcher on keyboards, Glen Duncan on fiddle and mandolin, Dan Dugmore on steel guitar, Glen Worf on bass, and Chad Cromwell and Danny Cummins on drums. While the album maintains a consistent midtempo tone, standout tracks include the reflective "If This Is Goodbye," inspired by the events of 9/11, the spirited "This Is Us," and Harris's co-written contributions "Love and Happiness" and "Belle Starr." Though understated in delivery, the album showcases Knopfler's laconic vocals and Harris's ethereal soprano in moments of striking harmony.
