John R. Miller's fourth album, The Great Unknowing, captures an ambitious shift as the alt-country and Americana artist challenged himself creatively and geographically. Rooted in his West Virginia past but shaped by new collaborations, this release blends road-worn storytelling with fuzzy atmospheres, reflecting on movement, memory, and change.

Miller traveled from his origins in the Washington, DC area and West Virginia to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to record at the legendary Church Studio, drawn by its deep musical legacy. Co-produced with Adam Meisterhans, the album was tracked live with a band of Tulsa-based musicians, including Grammy-nominated John Fullbright, engineered by Gary Laney and Mike Prado.
