Arriving just over a year after their last release, this album marks a striking shift in tone and energy for the band, capturing them in an urgent and instinctive mode.
Album Significance and Recording
Recorded live to tape in New Zealand by Paddy Hill, Fragile World was produced by Tom Healy (known for work with Tiny Ruins, The Chills, and Folk Bitch Trio). The album's title reflects both the current state of crumbling institutions and serves as a metaphor for the delicate, fragile undertaking of musical creation.
Creative Process
The band entered the studio with many songs but little pre-defined arrangement or instrumentation, leading to an exciting, instinctual recording process. The core of the record features mostly Tom and the artist, with Joseph McCallum contributing at times. This approach resulted in immediacy, intensity, and emotional clarity, positioning Fragile World as one of The Veils' most compelling releases to date.
