Description
The Blue Land is a CD by French saxophonist Matthieu Bordenave, joined by pianist Florian Weber, bassist Patrice Moret and drummer James Maddren. It’s a four-piece set featuring eight Bordenave originals alongside John Coltrane’s “Compassion”.
The quartet’s music moves between chamber-jazz dynamics and post-swing designs, with tenor and soprano saxophone lines woven through an interactive rhythm section. The title track and “Cyrus” are among the named pieces.
Recorded in Pernes-Les-Fontaines in 2022, the album was produced by Manfred Eicher.
