Description

This CD brings together blues singer Howlin' Wolf's interpretations of songs including “Shake For Me”, “Back Door Man” and “Spoonful”. It is suited to listeners exploring the blues recordings that helped define the genre in the 1960s.

First issued in 1962, the eponymous album gathers singles released between 1960 and 1962. It also features two songs written by Howlin' Wolf: “Who's Been Talkin'” and “Tell Me”.

Howlin' Wolf is joined for much of the album by guitarist Hubert Sumlin, pianist Johnny Jones, bassist Willie Dixon and drummer Sammy Law. Willie Dixon's songs were recorded by artists including Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, and Howlin' Wolf was celebrated for his interpretations of Dixon's work.
