Synopsis

In 1998 County Durham, charismatic ex-miner Bertie runs an underground gambling ring at the local dog track, offering down-on-their-luck men a chance to change their fortunes. Reg's ten-year-old son, George, is worried about his father, who hasn't been the same since his wife died, especially with ominous letters arriving. When Bertie offers Reg and George the chance to race Goldie, a beautiful fawn greyhound, they seize the opportunity. They must navigate the high-stakes world of the flapping track while confronting dark secrets from Bertie's past that threaten to destroy everything.
