The Gun Club - Miami [VINYL]

An Essential Release: Experience the raw power of The Gun Club's seminal 1982 album, "Miami," now available as a Standard Edition vinyl. This reissue brings back a masterpiece that fused punk rock intensity with deep bluesy roots, solidifying The Gun Club's legacy as pioneers of neo-swamp blues.

The Sound of a Generation: Emerging from the vibrant L.A. club scene of the early '80s, Jeffrey Lee Pierce and The Gun Club delivered an unholy blend of punk and blues. "Miami," recorded in June 1982 at Blank Tape Studios with producer Chris Stein of Blondie, further explored the band's signature sound. Despite the involvement of Blondie members, including Deborah Harry providing uncredited backup vocals, the album remained a potent exploration of Pierce's unique musical vision.

Influential and Enduring: Though "Miami" may not have received its full due upon initial release, its impact is undeniable. Billy Idol cited the closing track, "Mother Earth," as a significant influence on his hit "White Wedding." The Gun Club's sound on "Miami" inspired countless artists, including Chris Isaak, The White Stripes, and Mark Lanegan. The album also showcases the band's own influences with compelling covers of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Run Through Jungle," the traditional folk song "John Hardy," and J.R. Reynolds' "Fire of Love." Guest appearances by Walter Steding on fiddle, Mark Tomeo on steel guitar, and Chris Stein on bongos add further depth to this already rich recording.

Considered by many to be the original band's masterpiece, "Miami" is a crucial addition to any collection of punk, blues, or alternative rock music.
