Description
In Session brings Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan together on CD, making it a choice for listeners interested in their shared guitar performances. Recorded for a television programme in 1983, it is the only known recording of the two artists playing together.
Vaughan takes a more laid-back, controlled approach here, making the stylistic similarities between him and his mentor King especially clear. The programme includes snippets of conversation between songs.
Standouts include T-Bone Walker’s “Call It Stormy Monday”, King’s “Overall Junction” and Vaughan’s “Pride and Joy”.
