Pond - Terrestrials [audioCD]

Beloved Australian five-piece POND delivers their 11th record, Terrestrials, a cyclone of urgent, scorched earth rock’n’roll. This album tips the hat to the sounds of a potent epoch in Oz rock while squarely facing the realities of the here and now, mining the sound of open sky melancholia and heat haze sizzling on the plains.

Like much of the POND catalogue, Terrestrials explores themes of people and place, examining where and how identity intersects and interacts. The record captures the desperation of people and planet on the brink, ultimately betting on the beauty of both to prevail. Stereogum noted the track “Terrestrials” has “all this strutting, preening glam-rock/new wave energy, but it's too weird and oblique to play as pure pastiche.”
