Morphine - Cocoon [Vinyl]

Cocoon is a vinyl album by Boston trio Morphine, for listeners drawn to the band’s distinctive low rock sound. It brings together songs from the band’s late-1990s sessions, rediscovered and assembled into a unified album.

At the height of grunge, Morphine forged a sound around Mark Sandman’s two-string slide bass and unmistakable voice, Dana Colley’s baritone and tenor saxophone, and stripped-back drums. The band became one of the defining cult acts of the 1990s, and Cocoon offers a further chapter in their story.

Sandman’s life partner and estate manager Sabine Hrechdakian and producer Paul Q. Kolderie worked with the original tapes; Colley returned to add saxophone parts, and Kolderie created new mixes. Songs include “Tomorrow”, “Spaceman Charm” and “Moons of Jupiter”.
