ARKA Aqua Balance

Organic nitrate degradation for better water quality

Aqua Balance is a specially developed spore based bacterial blend for the biological reduction of nitrate in freshwater and saltwater aquariums. The bacteria spores contain support natural nitrate degradation in the aquarium and help reduce excess nitrogen compounds in the long term.

By biodegradating organic waste materials such as food residues, plant residues and excretion of the animals, Aqua Balance can contribute to improving water quality and supporting stable water values in the aquarium. This promotes the biological balance in the aquarium and reduces the maintenance effort in the long term.

Aqua Balance supports, among other things:

The biological nitrate degradation in the aquarium, the degradation of organic waste, a long-term stable water quality, the natural denitrification in the aquarium

When nitrate levels increase in the aquarium

In every aquarium, nitrogen compounds are continuously produced by food residues, dead plant residues and excretion of the animals. In the biological cycle, these are first converted into ammonium or ammonia and then converted to nitrite and nitrate.

Although nitrate is significantly less toxic than ammonia or nitrite, it can accumulate over time in a closed aquarium system. Increased nitrate values can strain the biological balance in the aquarium and affect the water quality in the long term.

A functioning biological nitrate degradation therefore plays an important role for stable water values. Special bacteria convert nitrate into gaseous nitrogen as part of so-called denitrification, which can then escape from the aquarium via the water surface.

This closes the natural nitrogen cycle in the aquarium and stabilises the water quality in the long term.

Easy to use for long-term nitrate control

Aqua Balance is easy to dose and is particularly suitable for already running aquariums where nitrate degradation should be supported in the long term. The contained bacterial spores activate in the aquarium and promote natural biological nitrate degradation.

Regular use supports denitrification in the aquarium and promotes a more stable biological balance.

Dosage recommendation:

Starting dosage: over 4 weeks once a week 5 ml per 100 litres aquarium water. Maintenance dosage: then every 14 days 10 ml to 100 litres of aquarium water

For optimal effect, there should be sufficient oxygen-poor areas (anaerobic zones) in the aquarium, as the biological nitrate degradation by bacteria takes place especially in such areas.
